In 2006 Dane suffered a horrific crash in a NorAm Downhill that ended with a broken neck, hip and pelvis. This often fatal injury left Dane immobile, with his neck in traction for the following months. Miraculously, Dane returned to snow in November, 2006 and is determined to return to the top of the ranks in international competition.
