About
After a promising year in 2009, Lea suffered an injury that kept her on the sidelines for the 2010 season. She spent the summer focusing on rehab and increasing strength. A training intensive trip to the Dolomites in October marked the beginning of cycling specific training and preparation for the 2011 season. She has carried that momentum through a month of heavy training in Hawaii and skate skiing in Vermont. After months of training, she is healed, back in top form, and ready to return to competition to continue her bid for the Olympics.
In 2007 Lea founded the Little Bellas mountain bike organization with the goal to help young women reach their fullest potential on and off the bike. The Little Bellas community aims to empower women through cycling, accent the importance of goals and a healthy life style, and emphasize a positive female bond, by joining mentors with 8-12 year olds. The group meets on a weekly basis for rides and team building activities throughout the summer. Lea and the mentors also incorporate events and activities to expose the Little Bellas to positive influences and successful women.
